No. 7.0-Its Our 1st Birthday!
Well today is the 1st birthday of Preservation In Color (PIC). The idea to start a platform to show and discuss the creative ways we preserve Black history, culture and community took on various forms before it became PIC. It's still a growing idea that is intuitively guided. That is why I often say “we” rather than “I”. Yes it's just me doing the physical work but I have assistance from the universe with the flow. I consider the relaunch date of 05 January 2021 as the official birthday which is also my paternal grandmother’s birthday. This specific date for the relaunch wasn’t intentional.
I didn’t start PIC for fame or notoriety. I’ve learned to let the ideas and content creation flow naturally rather than to force it. It's a genuine, heart-felt, purpose-driven idea. Sometimes I don’t know what I am doing. Sometimes I think my content is worth a read. I don’t worry too much about either and simply just share. I don’t proclaim to be an expert in the world of preservation. I have shared my story of how I found my way to the field of preservation previously here so I don’t need to rehash it. I am essentially a self-study student with an evolving passion that I don’t mind sharing with you.
The support that has been shown to PIC has warmed my heart over the past year. The year 2020 and 2021 looked different for all of us. PIC was a part of my light through the chaos. I look forward to sharing more of PIC with you throughout 2022. I didn’t want to keep you long. Just wanted to thank you for tagging along for PIC’s first year. It’s only up from here!!
Peace
