No. 2: What’s On Your Shelf?

So what is “What’s on Your Shelf?” you ask.

When I started formulating how I wanted to structure my thoughts and ideas for this blog, I had a million and one ideas come to mind. I thought about uploading individual posts with various topics. I also considered introducing topics that contribute to a specific theme.

Well I decided to do both. As an introduction to the blog, I wanted to introduce topics that the reader could possibly relate to. As I explained in “What is Preservation In Color?”, the term historic preservation is pretty defined. However when it pertains to the preservation of Black history, culture and community, the term is expounded. It becomes complex but powerful.

In the “What’s on Your Shelf?” series, we will explore how we intentionally and unintentionally preserve our history, culture and community within our own home. We will take a look at the impact of common items in your home and how they play a role in the preservation of who we are as Black people living in America.
